About MTERMS

The Malaysian Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Scientific Meeting (MTERMS) is a biennial conference organised by the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Society Malaysia (TESMA). First held in 2004, MTERMS has grown into an international platform that brings together researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and government agencies to strengthen tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

With the theme, “From Discovery To Therapy: Advances In Tissue Engineering And Regenerative Medicine,” 10th MTERMS 2026 continues this mission by bringing together multidisciplinary expertise across tissue engineering, biomaterials, cell and gene-based therapies.

Welcoming Remarks

Associate Professor Dr. Nur Aliana Hidayah Mohamed

Associate Professor Dr. Nur Aliana Hidayah Mohamed
Chair, MTERMS 2026

Dear Distinguished Colleagues, Researchers, Clinicians, Industry Partners, and Students,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Malaysian Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Symposium (MTERMS) 2026.

MTERMS 2026 brings together an international community of scientists, clinicians, engineers, innovators, and young investigators who share a common vision: to advance regenerative medicine and biomedical innovation for the future of healthcare. The symposium serves as a collaborative platform where multidisciplinary knowledge converges to accelerate the translation of laboratory discoveries into real-world clinical solutions.

This year’s symposium highlights a diverse range of themes spanning the rapidly evolving fields of regenerative medicine and bioengineering. Our scientific program will explore breakthroughs in stem cell biology, tissue engineering, biomaterials development and bioprinting technologies, while also addressing emerging areas such as gene editing, cellular reprogramming, immunomodulation as well the stem cell-derived therapies.

MTERMS 2026 also emphasizes the growing importance of advanced biomaterials and scaffold technologies, including smart biomaterials, nanomaterials, injectable hydrogels and bioresorbable scaffolds designed to support tissue regeneration and organ repair. Discussions will further extend into vascularization strategies, cell–material interactions and translational approaches that bridge engineering innovations with clinical applications.

As regenerative medicine continues to move toward clinical implementation, the symposium will also address critical topics such as biomanufacturing, regulatory science ethical considerations and commercialization pathways, ensuring that scientific advances can be translated responsibly and effectively into patient care.

Importantly, MTERMS 2026 strongly supports the next generation of researchers through the Student and Young Investigator Symposium (SYIS), which provides a platform for emerging scientists to present their work, exchange ideas, and build meaningful collaborations within the global research community.

Through keynote lectures, scientific presentations, and interactive discussions, we hope this symposium will foster new partnerships, inspire innovation and strengthen the collective efforts of the regenerative medicine community.

Malaysia provides a vibrant and dynamic setting for this international gathering, reflecting the region’s growing contributions to biomedical research and innovation. We hope that beyond the scientific discussions, you will experience the rich culture, hospitality, and collaborative spirit that define our community.

We are honored to welcome you to MTERMS 2026 and look forward to a stimulating and productive exchange of ideas that will help shape the future of regenerative medicine.

Warmest regards,
Associate Professor Dr. Nur Aliana Hidayah Mohamed

Former Chair, 9th MTERMS 2024

Dear Distinguished Guests Colleagues and Participants,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Malaysian Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Symposium (MTERMS) 2026.

Having had the privilege of serving as the Chair of the 9th MTERMS in 2024, it is truly rewarding to witness the continued growth and impact of this symposium as it evolves into an increasingly influential platform for advancing regenerative medicine and tissue engineering in the region and beyond. MTERMS has consistently brought together researchers, clinicians, engineers and industry partners to exchange ideas, foster collaboration and drive innovation in biomedical sciences.

The 2026 edition continues this tradition by embracing a diverse range of scientific themes that reflect the rapid advancement of our field. Participants will explore cutting-edge developments in stem cell research, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, biomaterials science as well the bioprinting technologies, alongside emerging areas such as cell engineering, gene editing, organoid models and translational regenerative therapies.

In addition, this symposium highlights the growing importance of advanced biomaterials and scaffold design, including smart biomaterials, nanomaterials, injectable hydrogels and bioresorbable scaffolds that support tissue regeneration and repair. These innovations are critical in bridging fundamental research with clinical applications and improving patient outcomes.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the organizing committee, speakers, partners and participants whose dedication and enthusiasm make this symposium possible. I look forward to the engaging discussions, new partnerships and impactful discoveries that will emerge from this symposium.

Warm regards,
Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Fauzi Mh Busra
